SOSLAB’s new solid-state 3D LiDAR, ML-X, is characterized by its compact size as well as a measurement distance and resolution more than doubled compared to those of previous products.

SOSLAB has tripled each angular resolution of ML-X (0.5° to 0.208° @ FOV 120°). Additionally, through the application of the SOC developed exclusively for laser control in the transmission unit, the overall product size and weight have been significantly reduced to 9.5 x 5.0 x 10.2 (cm3) and 860g, respectively. This new product also maximizes ease of use as it does not require any additional external modules for LiDAR operation.

SOSLAB is to unveil the new ML-X at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022 to be held in Hannover, Germany from September 20-25. Organized by the German Association of the Automotive Industry, this event provides up-to-date information on the technologically trending global market through the participation of the world’s leading manufacturers of commercial and special vehicles and attracts an increasing number of visitors every year.

In Korea, SOSLAB plans to exhibit ML-X at KES 2022 which will be held at COEX in Seoul from October 4 to 7, to provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the new LiDAR product.

SOSLAB CEO Ji Seong Jeong said, “The global LiDAR market is now at a stage where gemstones with both technological power and commercial feasibility are being sorted from the stones. Since its establishment in 2016, SOSLAB has been mass-producing 2D mechanical LiDARs for industrial use while developing 3D solid-state LiDARs for autonomous and production vehicle models. As a result, we have been recognized for the excellence of our technological power by national and international organizations, including winning the CES 2021 Innovation Awards and being selected as a Gartner Cool Vendor in 2021. Commercially, we have also developed partnerships with major major Korean enterprises through sourcing for mass production and joint development, etc. He expressed great confidence about ML-X: “We are confident to surprise the world once again.”

In addition to jointly developing LiDAR for mobile robots with Hyundai Motor Group, SOSLAB continuously cooperates with global automotive OEMs and leading suppliers by delivering ML-X samples. It has also attracted Series B investments to the tune of KRW 19.3 billion ($138 million) and is preparing for an IPO (initial public offering) in a bid to list KOSDAQ as a special technology company. in the second half of 2023.
